2014 The Year Of. . .

I survived the holidays, I’m back, and so happy to be blogging again.  I have been looking forward to 2014 for so many reasons, and now its here!  Squeee.

I’m sure you have your own reasons for 2014 excitement, but I wanted to share mine with you (because fun is contagious)

One thing I have been looking forward to has already happened.  We now have a movie theater in the lil town I live in (that tells you how lil it is.)  There has been a sign announcing this new theater since 2001, so you can imagine how elated I was when they finally started building it.  It has opened to rave reviews and I can’t wait to see something there soon (like as soon as something comes out that I want to see.)  So, yea new movie theater!!!

January and February are full of  parties with my new Boll Weevil friends leading up to the Cotton Carnival.  If you’ve been following my blog, you might remember these party people started me on my mid-life crazy.  They were the ones drinking beer at 10 a.m. dressed in weird costumes driving around in a green party bus.  I’m so happy I found them and  I can’t wait to see what they have in store for this winter.

This spring I am still planning a massive dose of mid-life crazy for my 50th birthday.  In March I will be jumping out of a perfectly good airplane in Florida attached to someone competent and handsome (so at least my jump instructor will look good in the pics).

My all time favorite author/series, “Outlander” is coming out with book 8 in March.  My favorite characters and I have been waiting 3 years to see what happens next.  I’ll have to clear the decks for a week or two.  These novels are so engrossing that I can’t stop reading for things like eating or feeding my family.  It’s PBJ’s all around at our house in March.

I am getting my first tattoo in April, around my actual birthday.  I am really excited about this and more than a little concerned that this might become an addiction.  I’m starting small with something on my rib cage, but I’ve been perusing designs on Pintrest and, well, there are a lot of really cute ones.  The great thing about turning 50 is that I no longer have to worry that I might have a job someday where tattoos are a  no-no.  I know now that any place like that would not be a place for me.

Then there is summer . . .World Cup!!!   If you don’t understand my excitement for this event, go back to my posts “Guiness and Donuts” and “Going to Brazil,” you will get a good picture why this is a very important event for me.  For now I’ll call it the World Cup, but by the time it happens it will be referred to as the Eye Candy Festival.

Sometime this summer “Outlander” will come to life.  As I already noted, Starz is currently filming the series in Scotland.  As soon as I know which night it will air on, I will add screaming, drooling crazy fan girl viewing parties to my calendar.

OH, (big OH) I finished my novel!  I will be self publishing it as an e-book.  I am still in the editing phase, but once that is completed the process is fairly quick to get it on the electronic book shelves.  I am hoping sometime in February.  Writing it was a fantastic experience, and now learning about epublishing and marketing is giving me a whole new learning curve (that I hope I don’t skid off of).  The title is “Burnouts, Geeks, and Jesus Freaks – a love story,” and I will be posting a lot more info about it in the next few weeks.

I’m sure there is more massive excitement on the horizon that I don’t even know about yet, but this looks like a pretty good list so far.  The added bonus to all of it is that I get to share it with you, my readers, and hopefully you will share your 2014 fun with me.  I’m still not sure if I have the comment section working properly, but to all those who took the time and effort to comment and share in 2013 a special thank you.
